Founded in 2021 by the Hike With Me initiative in collaboration with local women entrepreneurs, Al-Wadi Embroidery stands as one of our flagship women’s empowerment projects. It revives the timeless art of traditional embroidery, transforming it into a source of income and independence for women in the Petra region. Each carefully hand-embroidered dress reflects a blend of authenticity and modern design, carrying the cultural identity of Petra to the world.
The impact of Wadi Embroidery goes beyond showcasing the beauty of Jordanian heritage; it creates opportunities for women to turn their creative skills into sustainable business success stories. Through partnerships with heritage exhibitions, hotels, and tourism centers, the project aspires to become a living symbol of cultural heritage and economic empowerment.
