Throughout the entire South African route, Mr. Alaya was under continuous monitoring and police escort by SAPS. From 1 January 2026, when the walk began at the Southern Tip of Africa (Cape Agulhas), until 11 March 2026, SAPS provided security oversight and operational coordination across multiple provinces, ensuring the safety and smooth movement of the mission as it progressed through the country.
Coordinated handover procedures were conducted between policing districts to maintain uninterrupted security coverage along the entire route. Police vehicles accompanied Mr. Alaya throughout the journey, reflecting a high level of organization and commitment.
The project was received with support and cooperation across the regions it passed through, where local police units welcomed the mission and facilitated its movement. SAPS also supported logistical coordination and community engagement activities, including visits to schools and police stations, where Mr. Alaya shared messages promoting peace, coexistence, and support for Early Childhood Development.
The involvement of multiple SAPS units and the consistent coordination between districts demonstrated a high standard of professionalism, operational organization, and institutional collaboration. This structured support ensured the mission’s safe passage across South Africa and culminated in SAPS escorting Mr. Alaya to the Ramatlabama Border Post, where he was officially handed over to the Botswana authorities as the project continued into the next country.
