the Nabataean Legacy Hike

From Al-‘Ula to Busra

Spanning over 1,300 kilometers, the Nabataean Legacy Hike is a bold expedition that retraces the footsteps of one of the ancient world’s most influential civilizations the Nabataeans. Starting in Al-‘Ula, Saudi Arabia, and concluding in Busra, Syria, this three-month thru-hike journeys through breathtaking desert landscapes, archaeological marvels like Petra and Madain Salih, and hidden heritage sites once traveled by Nabataean caravans. Led by Saddam S. Alaya, this project is a living tribute to history, combining physical endurance, cultural preservation, and real-time documentation. With a strong emphasis on sustainability, community engagement, and adventure tourism, the hike aims to connect the past with the present while promoting the shared heritage between Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Follow the journey as it unfolds through powerful storytelling, live broadcasts, and immersive content that brings the desert kingdoms back to life.
